Omnisys Data Protection Managed Security Services (DPMSS)

The DPMSS Services (“Data Protection Managed Security Services”) continuously validate operation and protection policies. These items will be evaluated based on market best practices and customer-specific policies. All operational procedures and configurations shall be periodically evaluated and documented to ensure integrity stability and fault tolerance.

We cover the entire solution, from the consoles to the data protection agents, and the service can be delivered on customer premises or remotely 24/7.

The service offers the following:

  • Manage solution configuration, installed version and update requirements, providing impact reports as well as update guidance and planning
  • Check the high availability configuration and replication status
  • Verify the fault tolerance procedures
  • Verify platform backup and restore procedures and key custody settings
  • Verify the administrator and domain account settings for security requirements
  • Verify that best practices for automatic backup and keys are in place and documented
  • Identify any policies that are currently in learning mode and the potential impact of remaining as is
  • Evaluate and verify the overall deployment procedures for creating and updating policies and verify the overall effectiveness of the policies
  • Demonstrate and run reports that can be used to verify results
  • Review procedures for updating installed protection agents, such as encryption policies, host configuration, and agent installation

Omnisys Security Operations Centre (SOC)

Omnisys' managed SOC service offering enables companies and/or organizations to outsource the people, processes and technology required for a SOC to achieve an end-to-end detection and response solution designed to meet today's SOC challenges. The operation can combine in-house and outsourced models and be provided as a cloud-based service.

The decision to opt for an outsourced SOC or an in-house SOC depends on the unique situation of a company and/or organisation. For some companies and/or organisations, maintaining an in-house SOC is the best option for their business needs and investment in existing technology with the resources to do so. For others, a managed SOC may allow them to achieve a higher level of security maturity at a lower price than would otherwise be possible.

However, regardless of the decision of the company and/or organisation, Omnisys can help them achieve the desired level of cybersecurity to detect and respond to cyber threats.

In general, a SOC offers organized levels of benefits representing the people, processes and technologies that companies and/or organizations can enjoy according to their needs:

  • Level 1 typically has the capability to detect, investigate and respond to a common set of asset- and device-centric use cases, such as phishing, malware and ransomware. It classifies and prioritises alerts and escalates incidents to level 2.
  • Level 2 typically has the capability to detect, investigate and respond to a common set of use cases focused on incident response: investigate and remediate escalated incidents, identify affected systems and the scope of the attack, use threat intelligence to discover the enemy.
  • Level 3 typically has the capability to look for suspicious behaviour and test and assess network security to detect advanced threats and identify areas of vulnerability or insufficiently protected assets. This often also involves further investigation to identify attack sources, lateral movement analysis, methodologies used and duration of attack vector residence in the environment.
  • Level 4 usually works in the background to identify unknown vulnerabilities, review previous threats and mitigations, and assess the status of vendor and product vulnerabilities. They make recommendations to change products, processes and tools, and are able to address some very advanced and custom use cases. Often, these use cases and scenarios are business related and go far beyond cyber hygiene.

 

As you scale up, a higher level of sophistication and maturity is required, including more capabilities for SOC tools and more standardized content for greater reach. At all levels, the goal is to have tools that automate as many functions as possible, including not just detection, but validation and triage of alerts, investigation and response so as to return the infrastructure to a known and healthy state. The goal is to use tools that increase people’s efficiency so that they have time to focus on tools they cannot handle automatically.

Currently, Thales has six SOCs located in Canada, France, Hong Kong, Holland, United Kingdom and Morocco, and we are in the process of implementing a SOC in Brazil as well. Together, these SOCs form an international network operating on a “follow the sun” model that continuously supports more than a hundred customers worldwide with an unrivaled level of responsiveness and flexibility.
